Dane County Parks Youth Service Day

Saturday, April 27, 9-Noon

Chummy is partnering with Dane County Parks (DCP) for their Youth Service Day, a National Volunteer Day when students, service groups, and families volunteer to do service projects throughout their communities to help make a difference. This year, DCP is holding the event at McCarthy Youth and Conservation County Park from 9:00 am - noon. Activities will include spreading mulch, spreading prairie seeds, clearing invasives, planting trees, etc. You can find additional information on their website.

At 11:30am, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi along with members of the Ho-Chunk Nation will attend a ribbon cutting ceremony at the park to celebrate the completion of a new picnic shelter, drinking fountain, improved accessible parking areas, and native plant pollinator gardens

In order to volunteer, you must sign up in advance here (via DCP’s form). Note that all kids under 14 must be accompanied by an adult (there is a separate form for kids over 14 to sign up and attend without a parent). Lunch will be provided by Friends of McCarthy for those who register. They are capping the event at 100 participants.

Hope to see you there!
